Hi! I am Matthew Pender and I am a sports writer (and lyricist occasionally). After graduating from UH Mānoa, I moved back to Los Angeles and haven’t stopped writing about sports in Southern California. I hope my expertise in writing and sports land me in a long-term position.

Growing up in Arcadia, I was introduced to Santa Anita Racetrack at a very young age. My dad and I would spend all day studying and handicapping the horses, and then come home to a Los Angeles sports team on the television (usually the Dodgers). Sports were always the forefront of dinner conversations.
